The total value of the purchases is expected to be around 800 billion rupees ($9.75 billion), according to one of the sources. JAKARTA, June 14 (Reuters) - Indonesia confirmed on Wednesday it had bought 12 Mirage 2000-5 fighter jets previously used by Qatar, defending the nearly $800 million deal as a fast way to upgrade the air force after it was criticised by lawmakers who said the planes were too old. The defence ministry said in a statement that Indonesia had signed the deal for 733 million euros ($792 million) with Excalibur International a.s., a unit of Czech defence company Czechoslovak Group (CSG) in January. The country has long been seeking to overhaul its ageing air fleet which includes U.S.-made F-16 and Russian Sukhoi Su-27 and Su-30 jets. The country secured a deal to order 42 Rafale fighter jets for $8.1 billion in February. "Historically, the 'Recession' phase is the typical successor of the 'Slowdown' phase, but a 'Boom' phase has also followed 'Slowdown' in the past." Under this scenario, Bank of America screened for stocks that are "high quality, [large] size, growth-over-value, rising momentum and low risk". For this scenario, Bank of America looked for stocks it defined as high quality, large, value-over-growth, and low risk. The comments suggest a more muted stance on the prospect for significant orders of large Airbus jets compared with the planemaker's best-selling A320neo medium-haul model, for which it is doubling production capacity in China. It also welcomed an agreement giving delivery clearance for 150 A320neo and 10 A350 jets that Airbus had already sold to China. Airbus is marketing a freighter version of its A350 jet and is keen to sell more wide-body passenger jets to China. The statement also said European and Chinese regulators would accelerate certification involving the Airbus H175 helicopter, Dassault Aviation (AM.PA) 8X business jet and Harbin Y12F turboprop. The H175 was co-developed by Airbus Helicopters and Chinese aerospace conglomerate AVIC and is often used for ambulance or police service.

After missed targets in 2022, Airbus Chief Executive Guillaume Faury has told executives that 2023 will be "make or break" for the company's industrial reputation, industry sources said. It booked new orders worth 21 billion euros, including 92 Rafales and 64 Falcons. It delivered 46 jets including 32 Falcons in 2022, down from 55 including 30 Falcons in 2021. He said Dassault remained in talks to provide 26 carrier-borne Rafales to the Indian navy, in competition with Boeing's (BA.N) F/A-18 Super Hornet. One year's use of the global fleet of Falcon business jets is equivalent to 24 hours of global video streaming or five hours of worldwide truck traffic, he said.

BENGALURU, Feb 13 (Reuters) - India wants to more than triple annual defence exports to $5 billion by 2024/25 from $1.5 billion currently as it looks to ramp up domestic manufacturing, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Monday while inaugurating the Aero India show. "Today, India is not just a market for defence companies, it is also a potential defence partner," Modi said in his speech at the show. "I call on India's private sector to invest more and more in the country's defence sector." India, for decades one of the world's biggest importers of defence equipment, now exports to 75 countries, he added. India's airlines are also expanding, with Tata Group's Air India expected to announce a potentially record deal to buy nearly 500 jets from Airbus and Boeing, worth more than $100 billion at list prices.
